Under Autumnal

An installation for my thesis show at Cooper Union. The space is an alcove in the corner of the gallery which once housed a pay phone. Following a curving wall, the alcove bottle necks at its entrance, leading to a lopsided triangular space. Spilling out of this space are the dried leaves and dead bracken of autumn, the walls are covered to the ceiling with pendulous conglomerations of grass, leaves, twigs, seeds and dust, held to the wall with black open-mesh netting. As you enter, the material crackles under foot, sound is muffled, and the smell of the organic matter envelops you.
